ARIZONA SWORDS Click on any thumbnail for a larger image. This sword is a fake Sauerbier non-regulation staff officers sword. The hilt is poorly cast and the eagle looks more like a chicken. The design on the blade is casted not etched, which is wrong. Most likely a House of Swords product. It was recently sold as a fake on an internet auction site.

This sword is a mis-represented Sauerbier sword because the hilt has a modern reproduction guard that is not period or original. All other parts of the sword, to include the scabbard, are original; but the grip may be a rewrap, which is an acceptable restoration. I inspected this sword at the Franklin show, 2021 and the current owner was aware of the issues, but trying to pass it off as all original.
